welcome in!
This is Viewlayer, a site dedicated to comprehensive, user friendly explanations of Blender features and usage. This website isn't really for tutorials, though there will certainly be guides for more complex subjects. Instead, this project aims to clearly define terms and show use cases for the many options in Blender that are daunting to beginners, in flexible ways that can be applied to any projects instead of simply following a video. This means tutorials on this site can be slightly dense, so all are broken into the same basic structure: define key terms, identify use cases, and provide examples in action.
I am not a professional, simply a hobbyist who learned via many, many years of trudging through tutorials that didn't offer me the flexibilty I wanted in application, and hindered by frustration with the official documentation. I also personally despite learning from videos, and often would be forced to follow tutorials, tweak the workflow and then write my own guide for reference. Many of the posts that I'll upload will be edited versions of these personal guides.
I don't claim to be the ideal Blender educational creator; I'm still clueless in many ways, and am sure to make mistakes. What I do want to do with this site, though, is offer an alternative to the current options, for people who aren't inclined to forums or youtube guides or paid classes. If you learn like me, this site might work for you. If not, I'll provide resources for other ways to learn.
